"This week marks a new phase in the Healthy Hawai`i Initiative.
The Department of Health will launch a statewide effort to urge our residents to eat one more serving of fruits and vegetables every day.
Recent research shows that diets rich in fruits and vegetables can help people maintain a healthy weight and may reduce the risk of chronic illnesses, cancer, stroke and heart disease.
In Hawai`i, heart disease continues to be the leading cause of death.
Having a nutritional diet is one of the most important steps you can take to help your overall health and improve your quality of life.
As part of the Department of Health's public education campaign called Start. Living. Healthy, we encourage all Hawai`i residents to eat healthy, be more physically active and live tobacco free."
