"The holidays are a wonderful time of year when we honor and celebrate traditions passed on to us through the generations.

During this special time of celebration, we hold all the members of our `ohana close to our hearts.  I also hope that you will keep the men and women of our armed forces, who are serving both at home and abroad, in your thoughts and prayers.

Whether helping our neighbors, collecting food for the hungry and homeless, or donating toys so every child receives a gift during the holidays, the people of Hawai`i continue showing their aloha for each other every day.  Mahalo for caring for those in need during the holidays and throughout the year.

Lt. Governor Aiona and I wish you and your family peace and happiness this holiday season and in the year ahead.

Mele Kalikimaka and Hau`oli Makahiki Hou!"
