"This week, Governor Lingle is representing our state at the National Park Foundation Leadership Summit on Partnership and Philanthropy in Austin, Texas.

As the only Governor speaking at this important national conference, she highlighted Hawai`i's unique perspective and experience with successful partnerships to preserve the natural and cultural resources of our state and national parks.

These include the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument, which relies on partnerships at the state, federal, private and nonprofit levels.  She also shared innovative state, county and community partnerships to protect Kilauea on the Big Island, Haleakala on Maui and Kawainui Marsh on O`ahu.

These examples of partnerships in Hawai`i are models of leadership for the rest of our nation."
