"This is Major General Bob Lee, Hawai`i State Adjutant General. On behalf of Governor Lingle, I am honored to speak with you to address our statewide preparedness in emergencies and natural disasters.

One year after the October 15, 2006 Kiholo Bay Earthquake and O`ahu blackout, Hawai`i residents and visitors should have confidence in what the state has done to prepare for a similar situation.

Through collaboration and cooperation of state government, private businesses and community organizations, we were able to discuss lessons learned and made necessary improvements to ensure the public receives accurate and timely information in the event of an emergency.

The residents and visitors of Hawai`i should be confident that during an emergency, your state government will communicate information that is critical to your safety and comfort.

Mahalo.  This is Major General Bob Lee."
