"As you are hearing this message, homeless families on
O`ahu's Leeward Coast are finding hope in the recently opened Pai`olu
Kaiaulu shelter in Wai`anae. When fully occupied, it will serve nearly 300
people.
Working with communities throughout the state, our Administration has opened
emergency and transitional shelters like Pai`olu Kaiaulu, where the homeless
are receiving services to become self-sufficient.
But shelters alone will not solve the homeless problem. Our
Administration is also proposing to invest hundreds of millions of dollars
in increasing affordable housing and enhancing homeless services.
Working together, we can find solutions to end our homeless problem, as well
as increase the availability of affordable rental and for-sale housing
opportunities.
Please join our efforts by emailing me at Governor.Lingle@hawaii.gov."
