Asthma resources
In King County, asthma is the most common reason for children to be admitted to the hospital. This website includes tips on avoiding respiratory "triggers" that set off an asthma episode and details the efforts by the King County Asthma Forum.

Breast and Cervical Health Program
Provides free breast and cervical cancer screening for low-income women. The goals of the program are to increase early detection of breast and cervical cancer through regular mammogram and Pap test screening, increase preventive health knowledge and behaviors and facilitate access to health care and insurance.

Colon cancer
If you are age 50 or older, colon health screening could save your life. With regular screening, you can stop colon cancer before it starts. Colon cancer starts with a growth, also called a polyp, that is not cancer. Colon health screening can find and remove growths before they develop into cancer.

Healthy Aging Partnership (external site)
A multi-agency partnership including Public Health - Seattle & King County, the Healthy Aging Partnership's goals include educating social service and health care professionals, caregivers, policymakers and others in our community about issues related to the health and well being of older adults.

King County Steps to Health is a federally-funded program lead by community partners and Public Health - Seattle & King County, focusing on the areas of asthma, diabetes, obesity, nutrition, physical activity and tobacco.

Overweight Prevention Initiative
The King County Overweight Prevention Initiative brings together a diverse group of organizations from throughout the county in order to make changes that promote healthier eating and more active living.

Physical activity
The benefits of regular physical activity in preventing chronic disease have been reported widely. Regular physical activity can also help manage the symptoms of chronic disease and improve quality of life.

REACH coalition for diabetes
The mission of the REACH Coalition is to reduce diabetes health disparities experienced by communities of color. Through strong partnerships, the Coalition supports the empowerment of individuals, families, and communities, and creates sustainable long-term approaches to prevention and control of diabetes by utilizing all appropriate community resources in King County.
