Signing Ceremony Scheduled for May 26 in College Park ATLANTA - The U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is forging a partnership with Holder-Manhattan-Moody-Hunt Joint Venture and Georgia Tech Consultative Services to protect workers during the construction of the Maynard Holbrook Jackson International Terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. "This partnership represents a commitment by all parties to provide workers with a safe and healthy work environment during this construction project at the nation's busiest airport," said Andre Richards, OSHA's Atlanta-West area director. OSHA safety and health partnerships are part of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing efforts to improve the health and safety of workers through cooperative partnerships with trade associations, labor organizations and employers. Goals for the partnership are to reduce and eliminate hazards that lead to fatalities, injuries and illnesses; assure that employers have effective safety and health programs; and provide employees effective safety and health training for English and non-English speaking employees.
Under OSHA's Strategic Partnership Program, 228 partnerships for job safety and health are in effect across the United States. The role of the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration is to assure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health.
