Hello!
My name is Wendy Cohen and I'm writing from Women Make Movies, a non-profit organization in New York. I am doing research on various welfare/social work organizations and I came across this listserv. I wanted to inform you of a new documentary entitled LOVE & DIANE which tells the extraordinary story of a mother attempting to reunite her family while struggling with poverty, homelessness, HIV, substance abuse and attempting to negotiate the over-burdened welfare and foster care systems. We have had a tremendous response from educators and community organizations who use this film to generate dialogue, as a training tool and for professional development. I therefore wanted to post this message and share the information on this resource with you as we hope to contact the people that can best benefit from this groundbreaking documentary.
All the best,
Wendy

*************** LOVE & DIANE NOW AVAILABLE TO EDUCATORS***************

Women Make Movies is proud to announce that Jennifer Dworkin's critically acclaimed film LOVE & DIANE is now available to educators. As one of this year's most requested educational resources from WMM, LOVE & DIANE is essential viewing for generating dialogue on issues as substance abuse, the welfare system, homelessness and foster care. Here at WMM, we have witnessed firsthand the power of independent media to provoke discussion and increase awareness on important issues. We would like to support these efforts by offering a special 25% discount to university libraries, educators and community organizations using independent media as a teaching tool for social change.

LOVE & DIANE
<http://www.wmm.com/loveanddiane>

LOVE & DIANE is social issue media at its best -- groundbreaking, powerful and able to bring humanity and understanding to the most difficult of topics. It is a remarkable story of a mother and her children reunited after being torn apart for six years. Despite being caught in a devastating cycle of drug addiction, depression, teen pregnancy and the bureaucracy of an over-burdened welfare system, the family demonstrates an inspiring resiliency and ability to find strength during the most desperate times. The film offers an astonishing view from inside the state welfare and foster care systems, and presents a real triumph of the spirit of a family surviving against implacable odds.
"[An] epic documentary ... destined to become one of the touchstones of American nonfiction cinema." New York Film Festival
