EPA Orders Virgin Islands to Remove Scrap Tires That Pose Health Threat

EPA is holding the government of the U.S. Virgin Islands and three other parties responsible for improperly disposing of more than 870,000 tires near the Bovoni Landfill on St. Thomas.

Quick Action by EPA and its State and Local Partners Removes Hazardous Waste Threat in Syracuse, N.Y.

EPA and the city of Syracuse have announced that flammable, corrosive, toxic and shock sensitive materials abandoned at the former Otisca Fuels building have been removed. "This effort was a true model of how much can be accomplished when working with a cooperative partner like the city of Syracuse," said Alan J. Steinberg, EPA Regional Administrator.
