In The News
- Sinclair Oil to pay $2.45 mil civil penalty and spend more than $72 mil for new and upgraded pollution controls to reduce harmful emissions by 11 mil. lbs. annually. The settlement resolves alleged violations of the Clean Air Act at the company's facilities in Casper and Sinclair, Wyo. and in Tulsa, Okla.
The air we breathe is cleaner than it has been in past years due to the policies set forth through laws and regulations that are enforced at EPA. Since 1995, violators of the Clean Air Act (CAA) have been provided options to return to compliance through compliance incentives, compliance assistance and a strong enforcement program. Air quality has improved significantly because of environmental compliance and industry controls. This branch serves as the principle point of contact between EPA Region 6, state and local agencies and tribal governments on matters concerning air pollution enforcement.
Coordination efforts of surveillance activities are accomplished by this Branch, including inspector training.
