Visitor Centers
Two rangers waiting to serve the visitors

Boston National Historical Park visitor centers can be found at two convenient location along the Freedom Trail. The downtown visitor center is located at 15 State Street, next to the Old State House. The Bunker Hill Pavilion is located at 55 Constitution Road in Charlestown, next to Gate 1 of the Navy Yard. Each provides free comprehensive orientation to the culture and history of the city.

Downtown Visitor Center is staffed by park rangers and volunteers eager to help plan a vacationer’s visit. Maps, brochures and a free slide show of Boston’s historic Freedom Trail can be found here.

The Navy Yard Visitor Center, at Building 5, provides a personal orientation to the sites in Charlestown. Maps, brochures and restrooms are also available here.  Visitors can enjoy a 10 minute introductory video of the Navy Yard and view the "Serving the Naval Fleet" exhibit.
Both Visitor Centers are open 9 am to 5 pm daily, Closed on Christmas, New Year's day and Thanksgiving.

Did You Know?
Owning a shop to sell sewing supplies was one of the few occupations available to women in 18th century Boston. Many women were widowed by the French & Indian War and supported their families by working in the sewing trades. By 1770 over 70 shop-owning women in Boston were called "She-Merchants."
