ODEP has funded pilot demonstration programs across the United States to build the capacity and change the workforce development system to better serve adults and youths with disabilities. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of these demonstration programs, ODEP contracted with the private research firm Westat to conduct an independent evaluation of these programs. A summary of the findings, conclusions, and recommendations to date of Westat's evaluation of ODEP's demonstration programs is available.
Customized Employment Innovation--Findings from the Field
Based on the customized employment initiatives funded by ODEP, these findings showcase these initiatives' innovations as they implemented customized employment and partnered with the public and private workforce development system. This collection of reports explores the following topics:
- Best practices and findings from 26 Customized Employment and WorkFORCE Action Grant sites nationwide
- Policy implications of the host of new practices, collaborations and methods created through the operation of these grant projects
- Findings from five years of intensive system- and policy-change efforts useful for policy leaders seeking to create innovation in their own area

ODEP collaborated with DOL's Employment and Training Administration and its Civil Rights Center to jointly develop and issue the "WIA Section 188 Disability Checklist." The checklist provides a uniform procedure for measuring compliance with those provisions of Section 188 of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 and the implementing regulations (29 CFR Part 37) that pertain to persons with disabilities for physical, programmatic, and communication accessibility.

This resource is a detailed description of mentorship as a key technical assistance strategy. The guide provides information to Community Rehabilitation Programs on how to approach organizational change designed to improve employment outcomes, and in particular ways that a mentor may support the change.
