Summary

GAO reviewed the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) new rule on national primary drinking water. GAO noted that (1) the rule would establish, among other things, a health-based, non-enforceable Maximum Contaminant Level Goal for arsenic of zero and an enforceable Maximum Contaminant Level for arsenic of 0.01 mg/l and (2) EPA complied with the applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
