Kosovo Ministry Unveils New Mission, Credits USAID for Success

Improving the standard-of-living for all of Kosovo’s people by fostering a stable and healthy investment environment is the new vision for the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MFE), according to a June 5th presentation of the ministry’s statement of purpose. MFE's mission, also announced, is to provide responsible, equitable, and transparent management of public funds. The two statements were developed to serve as guiding principles for MFE's work in the future.

"The mission and vision [statements] are like the invisible hand that shows the direction to be taken," said Dr. Ken Yamashita, USAID/Kosovo Mission Director, who attended the event.

“The Ministry would not be what is it is without USAID's assistance," said Kosovo’s Minister of Finance and Economy, Haki Shatri.

Shatri credited the collaboration for the ministry’s success, noting that USAID had worked closely with his staff to ensure the creation of a modern, effective ministry in fiscal affairs, thereby bringing Kosovo closer to international practice and standards.
