About the Ohio Watershed Academy

Students and instructors of the Ohio Watershed Academy gather at a face to face meeting. The Ohio Watershed Academy is a professional-development course designed to help you develop and execute watershed action plans that involve, excite, and commit your community. How Can the Ohio Watershed Academy Benefit You?

Here's what some participants in a past class revealed in an anonymous survey about their OWA experience:

"This experience is becoming more valuable for our local watershed development than I realized when I agreed to participate!"

"One good thing about going through this experience right now is that I can use the lessons learned immediately! I look forward to learning from experiencing what others have done to improve their watershed."

"By attending a public meeting with a critical eye (i.e., looking for 'what's working' and 'what's not working') I really was able to reflect on meetings I will be organizing and facilitating in the future."

"In my watershed, I'm looking at expanding the Board to include more stakeholder groups -- for example, health departments, chambers of commerce. These ideas came from the readings."

"I really enjoyed having the opportunity to discuss topics with other coordinators. It gave me insight into the operations of other groups."

"The networking/moral support was beneficial, as some of us work by ourselves."

"It feels good to finally get some feedback and training in all aspects of watershed management."
