Locations of Uranium Recovery FacilitiesThe U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) currently regulates operating uranium recovery facilities in Wyoming, New Mexico, and Nebraska. However, the NRC does not directly regulate the active uranium recovery operations in Texas, Colorado, and Utah, as they are Agreement States, meaning that they have entered into strict agreements with the NRC to exercise regulatory authority over this type of material. The following map depicts the locations of these sites, while the tables below the map identify the licensed facilities, as well as those sites with applications in review. For additional detail, see the related information, below. Licensed Uranium Recovery FacilitiesThe following uranium recovery facilities currently have licenses issued by the NRC.
Uranium Recovery Facility Applications In ReviewThe NRC is currently reviewing applications for the following new uranium recovery facilities.
