  • From 2000-2006, Performance Track members that set goals for this indicator decreased their water use by a cumulative total of 3,661,797,686 gallons.* See the data table for details.

  • If the members had instead continued with business as usual, they would have increased their water use by 23,437,985,259 gallons over the three years.

  • EPA's Office of Water has created a water use challenge goal for Performance Track members. To learn about the challenge goals available in each EPA region and how many facilities have adopted challenge goals, please visit the challenge goals page in the Results section of this site.

*The value for cumulative water savings was changed in July 2008 due to the discovery of a facility reporting error. The value was changed from 5.19 billion gallons to 3.66 billion gallons.
