Extending Hazardous Waste Accumulation Time

This regulation allows Performance Track members that are large-quantity generators of hazardous waste up to 180 days, and in some cases 270 days, to accumulate their hazardous waste without a RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) permit or interim status.  Facilities must gain prior approval of the EPA Region and authorized State as well as comply with additional reporting requirements in order to take advantage of this benefit. Through the extended storage time, facilities should be able to reduce the frequency of waste shipments and the risks associated with shipping waste through local communities. More information, including details regarding reporting requirements, is available in the EPA Performance Track RCRA Extended Accumulation Fact Sheet.

Less Frequent Self-Inspections for Performance Track Facilities

This EPA regulation provides Performance Track RCRA facilities the opportunity to request reduced self-inspections of certain types of hazardous waste units from daily or weekly to monthly. A facility must receive advanced approval from the authorized state to reduce self-inspection frequency requirements. More information is available in the EPA Performance Track Reduced Self-Inspections Fact Sheet.
