Election Results for Academy of Industrial Hygiene In
The results of the 2008 election for the Academy of Industrial Hygiene Council are in. Council members will assume their new terms on Tuesday, November 11, at the Academy Council meeting after the annual Professional Conference on Industrial Hygiene in Tampa, Florida, November 8–11. New Council terms include:
- Jaswant Singh, PhD, CIH, President
- Donna M. Doganiero, CIH, President-elect
- Gayla J. McCluskey, CIH, CSP, ROH, QEP, Vice President
- Brad T. Garber, PhD, CIH, DABT, CSP, as Past President
The other councilors for 2008–2009 are Nicole M. H. Greeson, CIH, Lawrence W. Whitehead, PhD, CIH, and Thomas C. Ouimet, MPH, MBA, CIH, CSP. The restructured Council will also include AIHA President, Lindsay E. Booher, CIH, CSP, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene Chair, Scott E. Merkle, CIH, and ACGIH® Chair Lawrence M. Gibbs, CIH.

Call for Nominations for the AIHA Board of Directors
The Board of Directors plays a critical role at AIHA. The Board is the “face” of the Association. It establishes the direction and goals of the Association and monitors progress toward reaching those goals on behalf of the membership.
Who would you like to see leading AIHA?
During the first quarter of 2009, the annual on-line election will be held to fill AIHA Board of Directors positions to be vacated in June 2009. Open positions will be for vice president, treasurer-elect, and three directors.
Board nominations must be submitted by November 1, 2008. Electronic nomination forms can be mailed, faxed (703-207-7366) or emailed to nominations@aiha.org. Board nominations forms are available here.
AIHA Blog Offers Forum for OEHS Professionals
Do you have a topic you wish to discuss or an insight you wish to share? The AIHA blog provides a forum for you to discuss non-technical IH and OEHS topics including (but not limited to) the future of profession, innovative ideas, issues facing the profession today, ethics, social concerns and the association in general. As part of the effort, the blog features several distinct voices from various parts of the OEHS community.
The new blog already highlights ethical issues, career development, useful products, and kudos to AIHA members. Some bloggers are asking for your help and comments on these issues.

AIHA Co-Sponsors D.R.E.A.M. Workshop
NIOSH is holding the Direct Reading Exposure Assessment Methods (D.R.E.A.M.) Workshop in Washington, D.C., November 13-14, at the Hilton Crystal City at Washington Reagan National Airport. AIHA is a co-sponsor of this event.
The workshop will gather stakeholder input from academia, labor, management, developers, government agencies, and manufacturers on the research needs in the area of direct reading methods for assessing occupational exposures. It is open to the public and will be attended by invited experts, invited stakeholders, and other interested registrants. The workshop will discuss the critical research needs of direct reading methods. Only 230 participants may attend the workshop.
