HOUSE VOTES TO END IRAQ WAR

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today Congressman David Wu issued the following statement after a series of House votes on the Iraq War:

“I have opposed the war in Iraq from the very beginning.  Today the House of Representatives refused to give George Bush a blank check and voted to bring our troops home.  We need to end the war in Iraq responsibly so that we can focus on the real war on terror in Afghanistan.  The legislation is now in the hands of the Senate and I hope they will see it the same way.  If they do, our troops will start coming home in a month.  I can think of no better way to celebrate the upcoming Memorial Day than by telling the men and women in the armed services that they have done a great job and will be returning to their families.”
