State Utility Commission Assistance

EPA provides technical assistance to state utility regulators who want to explore greater use of clean energy for its economic and environmental benefits.  EPA technical assistance allows states to learn from each other and pursue best practice policies and programs for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and clean distributed generation such as combined heat and power. Assistance is provided directly to individual state utility commissions and in partnership with the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) through their Energy Resources and the Environment (ERE) Committee.
