Partner Profile Warren Wilson College is an independent, liberal arts college located in Swannanoa, North Carolina. The College is seeking to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and feels that green power, both the generation and the procurement of, plays an important role in moving the institution away from fossil fuel dependency. By meeting its electricity usage with 100 percent green power, the College reduced its total greenhouse gas emissions by 47 percent. In addition, the College operates a 15-kW solar array that is grid-tied, thus providing the region with a source of clean energy. "As a senior administrator, ultimately responsible for the fiscal well-being of the institution, it is rewarding to have a student body that pushes us to lead them toward a Greener environment. That a Green Power Partnership is a great moral decision is a given, but our students helped us see that they were interested enough to research the best alternatives and to pay more for these initiatives." said Larry Modlin, VP for Business and CFO.
