Illicit Drug Use Illicit drug use refers to use and misuse of illegal and controlled drugs. The Monitoring the Future Study--In this school-based survey of secondary school students, collects information on marijuana use using self-completed questionnaires. The information is based on the following questions: "On how many occasions (if any) have you used marijuana in the last 30 days?" and "On how many occasions (if any) have you used hashish in the last 30 days?" Questions on cocaine use include the following: "On how many occasions (if any) have you taken "crack" (cocaine in chunk or rock form) during the last 30 days?" and "On how many occasions (if any) have you taken cocaine in any other form during the last 30 days?" National Survey on Drug Use & Health (NSDUH)-- Information on illicit drug use was collected for all persons 12 years of age and over. Information on any illicit drug use, including marijuana or hashish, cocaine, heroin, hallucinogens, and nonmedical use of prescription drugs is based on the following questions: "During the past 30 days, on how many days did you use (specific illicit drug)?"
