Parity Parity is defined as the total number of live births ever had by the woman. This number is distinguished from gravidity, which is the total number of times she has been pregnant. Nulliparous women are those who have had no live births, and parous women are those who have given birth to at least one baby. For example, a woman classified as "parity 0" has never had a live birth. Whereas, "parity 1 or more" means that she has had one or more live births. Children ever born is also known as parity.
