146th Anniversary of the Battle of Fort Pulaski
Fort Pulaski National Monument will host a special two-day event to commemorate the 146th Anniversary of the Siege & Reduction of Fort Pulaski. The April 12-13 event will be the park's largest of the year. A full schedule of activities will be offered at Fort Pulaski and at Battery Park on Tybee Island.

Candlelantern Tours
Come relive a Savannah tradition and join in the celebration of the holiday season with Fort Pulaski National Monument. On the evenings of Friday, December 14, and Saturday, December 15, Fort Pulaski staff and volunteers will conduct the annual Candlelantern tours which recreate the Confederate Nog Party of 1861. Refreshments, hot cider, special tours, and period music highlight these evenings of merrymaking.

Guided Bicycle Tour of Fort Pulaski and Environs
Fort Pulaski National Monument, in conjunction with Chatham County Parks and Recreation, is hosting a bicycle tour of the fort and surrounding areas. Park Ranger, employees from Chatham County Parks and Recreation and volunteers will lead a bicycle tour of the Rails-to-Trails, Battery Park on Tybee Island, Fort Pulaski National Monument, surrounding dike system, and the lighthouse trail. The tour will begin at 8:30 AM in the parking lot at Fort Pulaski National Monument.

November 10-11, 2007
Veterans Day Living History Event
Fort Pulaski will host a special two-day Civil War living history encampment on November 10-11. The event will honor our nation’s veterans by offering a full schedule of activities inside the fort. The 48th New York Volunteer Infantry will recreate many aspects of daily life at a major Civil War-era post. A variety of stations will be positioned throughout the fort allowing visitors to learn about military inspections, mail calls, bayonet drills, barracks life, infantry drills, and cannon firings.

National Public Lands Day at Fort Pulaski
Fort Pulaski National Monument will proudly sponsor this year’s National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 29, 2007. Nationwide an estimated 100,000 Americans will participate in a variety of important volunteer projects on federal lands. National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance public lands across America.

Blue vs the Gray End of Season Celebration
To help celebrate the end of the summer season, the staff at Fort Pulaski National Monument invite you to attend a special one-day Blue vs. the Gray Celebration on Saturday, September 1, 2007. Activities at Fort Pulaski will include cannon firings, skirmish drills, Civil War soldier talks, and guided fort tours. Activities are scheduled from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The highlight of the day will be an 1862-style baseball gamebetween members of the 48th New York and the 8th Georgia Regiments.

Hands-on Kids' Artillery Program to Celebrate Birth of National Park Service
Fort Pulaski National Monument will be offering children an opportunity to play the role of Civil War cannoneers on an authentic Civil War cannon on Saturday, August 25, 2007. Using historically accurate implements, a park ranger will guide the children through the drill used by Civil War soldiers to load and fire cannon. There will be no explosives involved.  The special artillery program is being planned for Founder’s Day, which celebrates the birth of the National Park Service.

To help celebrate the Nation’s 231st Birthday, Superintendent Charles E. Fenwick announces that the National Park Service and Fort Pulaski National Monument will present a special patriotic Living History event on Saturday, June 30, 2007. Highlights of the day will include a Civil War baseball game using 1860s rules and equipment, cannon firings, and a brass quartet performing patriotic music

Siege & Reduction of Fort Pulaski, 145th Commemoration Event
Superintendent Charles Fenwick announces that Fort Pulaski National Monument will host a special two-day event to commemorate the 145th Anniversary of the Siege & Reduction of Fort Pulaski. The historic battle, which featured the first significant use of rifled artillery in combat, was fought April 10-11, 1862.

Fort Pulaski Unveils Largest Firing Reproduction Cannon in U.S.
Superintendent Charles E. Fenwick announces that Fort Pulaski National Monument will unveil a 30-Pounder Parrott cannon, the largest fully-functional Civil War reproduction cannon in the United States. The 4,200-pound artillery piece is scheduled to be fired for the first time during the 145th Commemoration of the Siege & Reduction of Fort Pulaski on April 14-15, 2007.

Cockspur Island Lighthouse Relighting
Fort Pulaski National Monument will host a special relighting ceremony of the Cockspur Island Lighthouse on Sunday, March 18, 2007, beginning at 6:30 PM. The park will remain open that day until 7:30 PM.
