Black Hills Firefighter Employment Opportunities

District Level Positions
In 2008, the Forest plans to hire almost 100 seasonal firefighter positions for engines, initial attack handcrews, and fuels crews with pay grades ranging from GS/02-05 levels. Firefighting positions will run from May-November with opportunities to work occasionally during the winter.(more)

Tatanka Hotshots Positions
The Black Hills National Forest is home to the Tatanka Hotshots, a Forest Service Hotshot Crew formed in 1999. The Crew functions under the standards and guidelines, training and physical fitness requirements outlined in the Interagency Hotshot Operations Guide. Competition for seasonal firefighting jobs is very intense. We seek highly motivated, dependable applicants who are in excellent physical condition. (more)
