Summary
M7 - National Weather Service ETA Model Forecasts The Southern Oxidants Study (SOS) conducted a major field research campaign in Nashville/Middle Tennessee area in June and July 1994 and 1995. The goal of this study was to improve scientific understanding of the processes that control the production and distribution of ozone in the troposphere. ... The ETA 48-hour daily weather forecasts provided by the National Weather Service for June 14 through Juky 20, 1995 were post-processed by the NOAA Air Resources Laboratory to provide the grid structure required for the initialization and four dimensional data assimiliation (FDDA) executed in the Regional Atmospheric Modeling System (RAMS). RAMS was run each day to predict the passive pollution dispersion over the Nashville/Middle Tennessee region, but can be rerun for any other location in the Southeast using the same post-processed ETA grids. Both post-processed ETA grids and RAMS outputs are archived for the period above. The study was conducted from June 14, 1995 through July 20, 1995. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was the coordinator for the 1995 Southern Oxidants Study Nashville/Middle Tennessee Ozone Study.
