Congressman Towns Announces Passing of Chief of Staff

Washington, DC - With deep sorrow, Congressman Ed Towns (D-Brooklyn) released the following statement today following the passing of his chief of staff, Brenda Pillors, PhD, who died early Sunday morning due to an asthma attack.  Ms. Pillors, a native of Los Angeles, California, had worked for the Congressman since he was elected in 1982 and previously served as the Legislative Director for former Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm (D-Brooklyn).

"There are no words to express the loss all of us who were touched by Brenda are feeling today.   She was truly an incredible person whose generosity and care for others knew no bounds.   A dedicated public servant, she lived her life committed to improving the lives of others.  She did this through many quiet, unknown acts in her personal life as well as through her sterling career as a congressional staffer.  Her passing is not only a tremendous void for those of us who were lucky enough to know and work with her but also for the people of Brooklyn on whose behalf she has served for more than twenty-five years."
