2005 Spring Into Safety Campaign
During the week of May 2, the Wage Standards and Hawaii Occupational Safety and Health Divisions of the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations are participating in the annual "Spring Into Safety" campaign to promote public awareness of job safety for youth in the work place, and to reduce incidents of injuries and unhealthy working conditions.
The State and federal child labor laws are designed to allow young workers to acquire valuable work experience and earn income, while protecting their safety and ability to succeed academically. As part of the campaign, the divisions are ready to provide information on the major requirements of the laws, including:
- Employer consultation and educational visits or seminars
- Child labor certification and labor law publications
- Outreach child labor work permit registrations at schools
- Investigations
Contact the Wage Standards Division at 586-8777 for further information and services, or follow this link (http://hawaii.gov/labor/wsd/pdf/forms/eHCLL-1%208-03.pdf) for a copy of the law and work permit procedures. |
