Tundra to Tropics: Connecting Birds, Habitats, and People

Event:  We are planning a party for the birds, and you are invited! It happens every year, thousands of migratory birds return to the Hoosier National Forest. IMBD will explore the birds that make these fantastic journeys, the habitats on which they depend, and the people who are important to the conservation of birds and their habitats along the way.

óRemember to bring your binoculars, field guides, and drinking water.

óAll programs and birding trips are free, but there is a $2.50 parking fee at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area. Be sure to tell the gate attendant you are with IMBD to receive this discounted rate!

Additional Activities: 

Round Robin:

This celebration will center around craft and game booths designed to provide children with an enjoyable learning experience.  Families will have the opportunity to build bird houses, create a variety of bird feeders, identify birds from a birding blind, dissect owl pellets, and participate in a number of games.  This day truly holds something for everyone! 

Downtown Bird Banner Contest:

This year children will have the opportunity to enter our downtown banner project!  Winning banners will be displayed in downtown Mitchell, Indiana.
