Noxious Weeds Program

Hoary Cress

(a.k.a. Cardaria draba or Whitetop)

Distinguishing Features

  • Grows 2 to 3 feet tall
  • Stems are gray-green and irregularly toothed, lower leaves are stalked and hairy; upper leaves clasp the stem and are usually hairless
  • Numerous, small, 4-petaled, white flowers cluster at the plant's top
  • Heart-shaped seed pods contain two, small reddish-brown seeds
