Teacher allegedly sold drugs to an undercover officer
OCT 12 --
HONOLULU – The U.S. Attorney of Hawaii announced the culmination
of a two-month undercover investigation into the illegal activities
of Lee Nobuo Anzai, a 29-year old teacher at Leilehua High School,
in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Anzai was arrested at 11:55 p.m. on October
10, 2006, after he allegedly sold approximately 4 ounces of methamphetamine
to an undercover officer while in the Pali Longs Drugs parking lot.
Mr. Anzai was charged
in Federal Court on five counts of distributing methamphetamine. According
to the affidavit, Mr. Anzai is alleged to have sold a total of approximately
15 ounces of methamphetamine to the undercover officer on five different
occasions. In addition, the affidavit alleges that Mr. Anzai would
negotiate to conduct the drug deals during school hours and in either
his classroom or on the school campus.
Edward H. Kubo,
U.S. Attorney for the District of Hawaii stated, “These are serious
charges, and we intend to continue sending the message that if you
distribute this poison in our communities, you will be caught and you
will see yourself in a Federal Penitentiary on the mainland serving
a lengthy prison term. There is absolutely no excuse for this type
of conduct and we will do all that we can to protect our citizens from
this drug.”
This case was investigated
by the Hawaii Rapid Reduction Task Force, which is comprised of agents
and officers from the DEA, FBI, ICE, Honolulu Police Department, and
