CDC Arthritis Program Schedule of Surveillance Products

The CDC Arthritis Program produces surveillance information in support of state and stakeholder efforts for people affected by arthritis. The proposed time table for National and State Prevalence Estimates and notations regarding other CDC Arthritis Program Related Publications are listed below.

Note: Read our most current state-specific prevalence estimates and national prevalence estimates.

Time Table for Availability of National and State Prevalence Estimates

  2006 2007 2008 2009 2010
State Prevalence Estimates (BRFSS- Standard Tables)* + (2005 data)   + (2007 data)   + (2009 data)
National Prevalence Estimates (NHIS)** + (2003–2005)*   + (2005–2007)   + (2007–2009)

Note:

* Final BRFSS data will be available by April of the following year and typically reported in the May (arthritis month) MMWR and as an (award-winning) Arthritis Wheel. State estimates will be based on the odd-numbered year BRFSS surveys.

** Final NHIS data will be available by September of the following year. National estimates will be based on a 3-year average of the most recent NHIS surveys rather than on a single year survey in hopes of smoothing out year-to-year survey variability
