Natural family planning

NOTE: In "Natural family planning or safe period by temperature or cervical mucus test," a woman checks the temperature and consistency of her cervical mucus to determine her fertile days and abstains from intercourse on those fertile days.

  • Natural family planning use among women 15-44 years of age who have ever had intercourse, 2002:
    • Percent of women who have ever used natural family planning: 3.5%
    • Percent of women currently using natural family planning: 0.2%

Nonvoluntary sexual intercourse

  • Of females 18-24 years of age in 2002 who have had sex before age 20, percent whose first intercourse was not voluntary: 9.6%
    (Based on the question: "Would you say then that this first vaginal intercourse was voluntary or not voluntary, that is, did you choose to have sex of your own free will or not?")

Number of sexual partners in the past 12 months

  • Percent of all women 15-44 years of age who have had three or more male partners in the last 12 months, 2002: 6.8%
