Figure 1: Where are U.S. ART clinics located, how many ART cycles did they perform in 2005, and how many infants were born?

Figure 1 is a map of the location of ART clinics in the United States and Puerto Rico, 2005.

There are five statistics listed at the bottom of the map:

  • Number of ART clinics in the United States in 2005: 475
  • Number of U.S. ART clinics that submitted data in 2005: 422
  • Number of ART cycles reported in 2005: 134,260. Note: This number does not include 358 cycles in which a new treatment procedure was being evaluated.
  • Number of live-birth deliveries resulting from ART cycles started in 2005: 38,910
  • Number of live infants born as a result of ART cycles carried out in 2005: 52,041

Figure 2 is a pie chart representing types of ART cycles in the United States, 2005.

  • 5,541 frozen–donor cycles, 4.1%
  • 10,620 fresh–donor cycles, 7.9%
  • 20,657 frozen–nondonor cycles, 15.3%
  • 97,442 fresh–nondonor cycles, 72.4%
  • 358 cycles in which a new treatment procedure was being evaluated, 0.3%

  • Age <35, 53,567 cycles, 39.9%
  • Age 35–37, 29,627 cycles, 22.1%
  • Age 38–40, 25,401 cycles, 18.9%
  • Age 41–42, 12,951 cycles, 9.6%
  • Age >42, 12,714 cycles, 9.5%
