Description:
MARYLAND DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE INITIATIVE
Maryland's Drug-Free Workplace Initiative provides consultation
and technical assistance to the small and medium-sized business
community through free seminars on policy and program
development. The Initiative maintains a network of over 60
volunteers (labor and management attorneys, employee assistance
professionals, prevention and treatment experts) who provide
assistance to companies on a pro-bono basis.
As part of its public education component, the Initiative
develops training and educational programs in conjunction with
local Chambers of Commerce and community colleges throughout
Maryland. It operates an Infoline which business can access
during daytime working hours for immediate answers to questions
regarding workplaces free of substance abuse.
Together with Baltimore City Community College, the Initiative
operates the Maryland Center for Drug-Free Workplace Services.
The Center provides a series of non-credit courses on various
issues surrounding workplace substance abuse program development,
as well as business roundtables for the business community.
An information package for Maryland employers is available from
the Initiative free of charge.
