CWNS 2008 Web Seminar Series

EPA's CWNS Web seminar series provides training on important topics related to CWNS 2008 data collection, including eligibility and documentation rules, cost curves, and methodologies for reporting specific categories of needs.

CWNS 101

This web seminar was targeted at new state and regional CWNS coordinators, as well as NPS coordinators, onsite regulators, stormwater coordinators, and others interested in learning more about CWNS. Presenters provided an overview of the history of CWNS and how CWNS data is used. They also introduced the CWNS 2008 goals, timeline, eligibility criteria, documentation rules, the web-based data entry system, and review process. CWNS 2008 Eligibility

This web seminar focused on the six elements of CWNS eligibility and provide examples on how to meet the eligibility requirements. Presenters discussed changes to the CWNS eligibility rules in 2008 and highlight the types of needs that are newly eligible. National State Revolving Fund (SRF) Eligibility Rules

This web seminar provided an overview of the types of projects that meet the national SRF eligibility requirements. Presenters provided information to clarify commonly misunderstood SRF eligibility criteria, such as needs for growth and stormwater needs related water quality and water quantity. Also, they presented the new process for state certification of SRF eligibility and the related audit process. Documentation Rules and Document Types

This web seminar focused on the requirements for documenting needs and costs in CWNS 2008. Presenters provided an overview of the document types by showing sample documents and highlighting new document types. This web seminar focused on decentralized wastewater treatment needs. Introduction to the New CWNS Data Entry System

This web seminar demonstrated the new data entry system that will be used to enter data in CWNS 2008. The presenters featured the new functionality to make it easier for state and local communities to enter data. Documenting Small Community Needs

This web seminar focused on small community (with fewer than 10,000 people) needs. It highlighted eligibility requirements, potential resources, best practices for collecting and entering data, and successful examples from CWNS 2004. Organizations and agencies that support small communities were encouraged to participate in this seminar. CWNS Cost Curve Overview

This web seminar focused on nonpoint source (NPS) pollution needs. It highlighted eligibility requirements, potential resources, best practices for collecting and entering data, and successful examples from CWNS 2004. Intoduction for Community Stakeholders

This web seminar provided Community Stakeholders (e.g. representatives of wastewater treatment plants, municipal stormwater programs, municipal health departments, planning authorities, service providers, watershed organizations) with important information for CWNS 2008. It was designed to introduce Community Stakeholders to CWNS and explain how they can assist their state CWNS coordinator to submit data this year.
