DOL Launches New Compliance Assistance Tool: The elaws FLSA Overtime Security Advisor

On August 23rd, the Department's final Overtime Security Rule for white collar workers became effective. This rule guarantees overtime protection to millions of workers. In a continued outreach effort to ensure full employer compliance with the Department of Labor's new Overtime Security Rule, the Department's Office of Compliance Assistance Policy has developed an interactive Web-based tool, the elaws FLSA Overtime Security Advisor.

This tool, available at www.dol.gov/elaws/overtime.htm, is designed to help workers and employers understand the updated overtime rules in a question-and-answer format. Employers can use the tool to ensure they are in compliance with the rules and paying workers correctly, while workers can use it to help determine whether they are entitled to overtime. This tool is one of many online Advisors offered by DOL. Visit www.dol.gov/elaws for a full list.

Additional information about the Overtime Security Rule can also be found on the Department's FairPay Web site, www.dol.gov/fairpay. This site includes tools and resources that include fact sheets and online training seminars with video and PowerPoint presentations.
