Subject: Updated Minimum Wage Posters Available and OFCCP Issues Final JVA Rule

Posters. Effective July 24, 2007, the federal minimum wage for covered non-exempt employees increased to $5.85 per hour. The minimum wage will increase to $6.55 per hour on July 24, 2008 and to $7.25 per hour on July 24, 2009. A number of federal workplace posters have been revised to reflect these changes. All updated posters are available at www.dol.gov/compliance/topics/posters.htm. The revised posters are: the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Minimum Wage Poster and the related posters for State & Local Government Employees, Agricultural Employees, American Samoa, and Northern Mariana Islands. The FLSA Minimum Wage poster is also available in Chinese and Spanish. The poster describing Employee Rights for Workers with Disabilities/Special Minimum Wage has also been updated to reflect the minimum wage change.

All posters can be printed from the DOL Poster Web page. Revised posters are also available for free from the Department at 1-888-972-7332. If you are not sure which posters must be posted by your organization, please use the elaws Poster Advisor.

Final Rule. A final rule implementing the nondiscrimination and affirmative action provisions of the Jobs for Veterans Act of 2002 (JVA) was published by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs on August 8, 2007. JVA increased the threshold of covered federal contracts from $25,000 to $100,000; expanded the categories of veterans protected by the affirmative action provisions of the law; and changed how covered contractors must list job openings. The final rule is effective September 7, 2007 and applies to Government contracts entered into on or after December 1, 2003.

For more information on JVA, please see the final rule and News Release.
