Wastewater Disposal of Vessels at Sea

Facilities which discharge pollutants from point sources (such as discharge pipes) into waters of the United States are required to obtain National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits. The NPDES wastewater permitting program addresses discharges from municipal sewage treatment plants, pretreatment of industrial wastewater, storm water, concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs), and combined sewer overflows (CSOs).

The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) wastewater permitting program addresses issues which include storm water, pretreatment of industrial wastewater, animal feeding operations (AFOs), and combined sewer overflows (CSOs). Under the NPDES Program, facilities which discharge pollutants from a point source into waters of the United States are required to obtain a NPDES permit.
