This document provides practical guidance, potential language, and examples of environmentally beneficial landscaping practices for each of the EMS elements. The intended audience includes Federal facility staff tasked with developing an EMS and reducing the environmental impact of facility landscaping activities. The purpose of this guidance document is to assist with the addition of sustainable landscaping practices to an existing EMS or to the incorporation of sustainable landscaping into the development of an EMS.
