QUESTION: Madame Secretary, can you remark on the passing of Caspar Weinberger?
SECRETARY RICE: Oh, yes, very sad. It's a very sad day. I knew Secretary Weinberger very well. He was someone who encouraged me throughout my career when I was a young academic and a young member of government. He was a wise man and a great public servant and he will be missed. His advice was sought even in recent times, and so he will be missed. And I want to extend my condolences to his family and to let everyone know that we'll miss Cap a great deal.
