American families: 75 years of change

American families have changed in many ways in this century, as our population adapted to evolving technologies, economic conditions, and social trends. Changes were particularly pronounced during the 1960's and 1970's, as the baby-boom generation reached adulthood. This article traces the characteristics of American families during the past 75 years.
