Inflation remained stable in 1994, as the index for all items less food and energy, which is considered the underlying rate of inflation, posted its smallest rise since the mid-1960's. In 1994, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increased by 2.7 percent, while the "core" index (CPI for all items less food and energy) rose 2.6 percent. This article summarizes changes in Consumer Price Indexes during 1994.
