Noneconomic fluctuations in hours and earnings data

BLS hours and earnings series are subject to noneconomic calendar-related fluctuations caused by response error in semimonthly and monthly reports and the processing limitations of the payroll survey. This article describes the research methods used and the results obtained in this study. Several methods were used to identify and measure the noneconomic fluctuations.
