Worker in alternative employment arrangements: a second look

Both the proportion and characteristics of workers in four alternative employment arrangements in February 1997 were little different from 2 years earlier; the groups continue to be highly diverse.  This article examines the latest BLS data on independent contractors, on-call workers, temporary help agency workers, and workers provided by contract firms.
