Arizona
Proposition 200 & California Proposition 215
The Drug Enforcement
Administration has taken an official position that Proposition 200 in
Arizona and Proposition 215 in California were in conflict with public
safety and the physical well-being of innocent citizens.
We have attempted
to educate the public about our serious concerns with the implications
of liberalizing state drug laws to allow the use of marijuana, and in
the case of Arizona, heroin, LSD and PCP-like substances (which produce
violent behavior in users), in addition to marijuana, for medicinal purposes.
The passage of these
propositions in no way alters the DEA's fundamental mission: to enforce
the federal drug laws of the United States. The DEA intends to continue
targeting the most significant drug traffickers at home and abroad.
