Welcome!
The
NPS Rivers, Trails & Conservation Assistance Program (RTCA)
Alaska provides technical expertise for local partnership projects
involving rivers, trails and land conservation.
We
provide assistance in the form of brief consultations, longer partnership
projects, and technical info you can use to help make your project
a conservation success.
Project
Assistance is provided:
|
as
a shared working partnership with local groups and governments
|
|
in
the form of staff expertise for 1 to 2 year projects
|
|
at
the invitation of local sponsors committed to furthering the
project after RTCA involvement concludes
|
Project
assistance is scheduled based on the federal fiscal year calendar
(starting October 1st). Requests for assistance usually exceed
the capacity of the Alaska Region RTCA program. Therefore, an
application must be made for assistance by August 1st of each
year, and applications are then competitively ranked and selected
for the upcoming year.
Funding
and grants are not provided through the program (although we do
have links to sources of funding and other forms of support).
For more information on applying for assistance,
follow this link.
Also,
we’re NOT the place to be looking for info on the latest river or
trail conditions, or how to reserve a campsite or public cabin–-for
information of this sort, go to the
Alaska Public Lands Information Center website.
Please
check back as we are still building the site and will be adding
new information as it becomes available. We welcome your comments
on organization and content of this site.
