Fire Situation Report

The Fire Situation Report provides current information on the fire situation on national forest lands in California.

Wildland Fire and Incident Information System

Inciweb is an information management system developed to provide the public with a single source of information related to wildland fire information. The Pacific Southwest Region is participating in Inciweb to efficiently present information on wildfires and other incidents.

Current weather conditions from the National Weather Service are updated continually.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is the primary source of weather data, forecasts and warnings for the Unites States. Television weathercasters and private meteorology companies prepare their forecasts using this information. The NWS is the sole United States official voice for issuing warnings during life-threatening weather situations.

Fire Restriction Status

Fire Restrictions in the Lake Tahoe Basin Effective Saturday, July 12!

The Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, US Forest Service will implement Fire Restrictions beginning Saturday, July 12, 2008. Campfires, including charcoal BBQs, are prohibited except in Developed Recreation Sites. The restrictions, enforceable by a Forest Order, limit campfires to only developed-fee recreation sites (campgrounds, camps and resorts), restrict smoking, and establish other conditions to reduce the possibility of human-caused wildfires over an especially dry summer season Read More

Fire Restrictions in Surrounding Forests

The Eldorado National Forest, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, and the Tahoe National Forest are currently under fire restrictions. Fire restrictions mean no campfires except in designated/developed campsites and no smoking. For more information, visit the forests listed above.
