Special Use Permits

A Special Use Permit provides use of and access to National Forest lands to both commercial and non-commercial operations for a wide variety of activities. Permits are also issued for private or non-exclusive use. Examples include reserving a public site for a wedding party or holding a bicycle race on public lands. These permits contain specific terms and conditions that the holder must follow. There is a fee charged for Special Use Permits.

Special Use Resorts & Concessionaires

Angora Lakes Resort

Summers are crowded, so arrive early. Dogs must be on a leash at all times. Take Highway 89 north approximately 3 miles from South Lake Tahoe to Fallen Leaf Lake Road and turn left. Turn left at the first paved road. Continue to Forest Service Road 12N14 and turn right. Watch for bicyclists along this road. Continue past Angora Lookout to the road's end at the parking lot.  There is a parking fee.

The Echo Lakes area offers a variety of outdoor activities including boating, hiking, fishing, camping in Desolation Wilderness, and picnicking. The Chalet offers boat taxi service to the far end of the lakes and boat rentals. They also sell ice cream, drinks, sandwiches, and fishing licenses.

The Tahoe Tallac Association sponsors the Valhalla Summer Arts Music Festival which is held throughout the Tallac Historic Site. The Festival includes a variety of events for adults and children from June into September.  The Valhalla Summer Arts Music Festival aims to help restore the Tallac Historic Site to its former grandeur and to bring the cultural arts to the public.
